Start the experience at a local farm where you will get the chance to hand pick your own seasonal vegetables or a bag of huge shiitake mushrooms! Take them back to the Izunuma fresh produce centre and learn how to make the local specialty ‘Imoni’ hot-pot and ‘Hatto-jiru’ soup at a cooking class with some friendly local ‘okaasan’ (mothers).

Meet at the Izunuma Produce Centre

Visit a local farm and hand-pick your own bag of delicious shiitake mushrooms, straight from the plantation!

Return to Izunuma local produce centre and learn how to make local specialties ‘Imoni’ hot-pot and ‘Hatto-jiru’ soup, using your freshly picked mushrooms and other local vegetables/ingredients (vegetarian/vegan friendly)! Chat with the local ‘Okaasan’ (mothers) and learn about the local culture.

Visit the informative wildlife sanctuary centre to learn more about the unique ecosystem of the Izunuma area.
