Stay overnight with a local farming family at their home in northern Miyagi Prefecture. Get to know your host family as you prepare dinner and learn how to make local dishes using the vegetables you’ve just picked.
Exchange stories and culture as you bond over dinner and settle in for the evening. You might even be lucky enough to sleep in a traditional tatami-mat room on a Japanese futon!

TOUR COURSE

Meet at the Izunuma Local Produce Centre.
- 15:30
Enjoy some time to explore the local produce market and nearby wildlife sanctuaries.
- 16:00
Be taken to a nearby farm to experience vegetable harvesting!
Pictured below is a visit to a local shiitake mushroom farm:
- 17:00
Be picked up by your farm-stay family and head back to their family home.
Using the fresh vegetables you have just harvested, enjoy cooking traditional home-style meal with your family and exchanging culture and stories around the dinner table.

If you have places to be, leave your farm-stay at around 10:00am.
