Located just 30 mins from the heart of Sendai City, Akiu hot springs is a countryside oasis! Sprawling rice-fields, surrounding mountains, pristine rivers and clean air are not only scenic, but also the perfect conditions for some of Miyagi’s tastiest local produce. Akiu is a gastromonic delight, and the star of the show is ‘Akiu-sha’, a unique farm-to-table restaurant where all of the best parts of Akiu come together on your plate (and in your glass!).
Akiu-sha is a relatively new addition to the Akiu area, opening in 2018. The building itself is actually a 150 year old traditional farmhouse converted into a modern space. Alongside the sleek modern elements of the interior, the design still pays homage to the building’s past by featuring original elements of the farmhouse to create a ‘real vintage’ ambiance.
This tour package includes not only a shuttle-bus ticket from Sendai Airport straight to the Akiu area, but also a delicious ‘afternoon tea’ menu at Akiu-sha. Choose something sweet from the range of delicious options and pair with a freshly brewed hot drink or perhaps some local wine or craft beer!
Sit back, relax and take-in the vintage ambiance while discovering the delicious flavours of the region.

Originally a traditional farmhouse (with over 150 years of history), the building was transformed into the modern space that it is today in 2018. The meals served at the restaurant feature local vegetables and ingredients, including fresh herbs picked daily from the onsite veggie-patch!
The head chef of Akiu-sha is culinary genius Masaya Watanabe, who creates masterpieces from the local produce and matches them perfectly with local wines from Akiu Winery or perhaps some craft beer!
This tour package is all about the sweet! Your ticket includes a tasty ‘afternoon tea’ set of a sweet dessert and drink (hot drink or wine/craft beer from the Akiu region).
