Meet your guide at the entrance to Kokubuncho.

Head into the bustling neighbourhood of Kokubuncho – Sendai’s biggest and busiest nightlife district!

Learn a little more about the history of the area and Sendai’s rich food culture before heading to your first stop.

After working up an appetite, it’s time to start the feasting!

Your first stop will be an exclusively created menu of local delicacies at your choice of one of these two foodie favourites:

‘KANNOKI’ – washoku & premium sake pairing

If you’re a lover of Japanese sake, you’ll want to stay at Kannoki all night! Owner Tamagawa-san is somewhat of a legend in the local Miyagi sake team, working together with many of the Toji from breweries across the prefecture and serving up the best of their produce at his tiny counter-bar restaurant. The traditional kaiseki menu is mind-blowing in and of itself (particularly the Kannoki’s signature dish – uni pudding!) but the ‘magic’ is in Tamagawa-san’s choice of sake to pair with each course. When we say ‘magic’, we mean MAGIC! Without giving too much away, be prepared to learn how to change the flavour of sake with only a muddler…!

‘BONTENMARU’ – Sendai Wagyu Beef Shabu-Shabu / Sukiyaki

The ultimate luxury for meat lovers – ‘Bontenmaru’ has put together a full-course menu packed with Miyagi delicacies, including an extravagant plate of A5 Sendai Wagyu Beef and Miyagi Japan X brand premium pork to be enjoyed as either ‘Shabu-Shabu’ or Sukiyaki. Save some room for the incredible all-you-can-drink menu of local beer, whisky and sake!

With your stomach satisfied, it’s time to treat your eyes, ears and dancing shoes!

Choose from one of two exciting live entertainment venues in Kokunbuncho:

‘LALA TOO’ – ‘New-half’ Show & Talk

Walking down the stairs into ‘Lala Too’ is like entering another world – a world of colour, feathers and so.much.glitter!! But the glitter and sequins are dull compared to the shining personalities of the Lala Too performers! These incredibly beautiful ladies and men are the stars of Sendai’s ‘New-half’ (transgender) community. Enjoy a charming chat before sitting back to enjoy a 40 min live performance showcasing the amazing talents of the crew! After the grand finale you’ll have a chance to join them on stage for a colourful photo op.

‘KENTOS LIVEHOUSE’ – Golden Oldies Live Performance

Take a trip back in time to the golden-oldies!! Every night the Kentos live-band perform to their adoring fans, taking requests from their impressive repertoire of classics from the 50s, 60s, and 70s! Sit back and enjoy the show, but we’ll bet the infectious charm of the band will have you up on your feet and dancing the night away!
