Start with a casual drink at local standing sake bar ‘Sugawara Sake-ten’ in the heart of the city. Sugawara Sake-ten has been serving up sake to Sendai locals for over 125 years!
Choose your first drink of the evening from their selection of rare local varieties and sip alongside some local bar-snacks. After a short walking tour of Sendai’s night-life area ‘Kokubuncho’, head to a quieter location for the highlight of the evening. At ‘Sake Bar Hatago’, owner and sake master Tsukasa Aoya himself has created a unique Sendai tasting plate featuring regional delicacies from around the city and greater Miyagi Prefecture. Of course, he has designed these to be paired with some more local drops! Choose four more of your favourites or leave the selection up to the master and enjoy the variety of flavours as you savour each with another mouthful of delicious food.

Start the evening with a casual drink at ‘Sugawara Sake-ten’, one of Sendai’s oldest drinking holes, boasting 125 years of history!
They have a great selection of local sakes. Choose your favourite and enjoy a glass with some old fashioned Japanese bar snacks as you soak up the atmosphere or make friends with the locals standing next to you.

For a change of pace, head to ‘Sake Bar Hatago‘, one of Sendai City’s finest bars famous for its over 60 different varieties of sake on offer (both local and from around Japan) as well as its perfect view overlooking the zelkova tree lined streets of Jozen-ji Avenue.
Owner and sake expert Tsukasa Aoya has developed the ultimate Sendai tasting plate! Take your taste-buds on a journey around Miyagi Prefecture as your devour delicacies such as fresh sashimi and fried varieties of local fish and local vegetables, tender beef-tongue, pureed edamame beans, local miso-infused cream cheese, dense matcha pound cake and more.
Of course, the tasting plate is designed to be enjoyed with some local drops! Choose your favourites from the menu or leave it up to the expertise of Mr. Aoya.
Sit back and relax as you take in the view over the heart-line of Sendai City, Jozenji-dori Avenue.
