We offer a private experience at “Onishi Tsuneshouten,” a long-established Kyoto fan shop with over a century of history, located in a Kyoto townhouse (machiya) that is more than 150 years old. You will experience “painting,” one of the processes in fan-making. Our craftsmen will complete the fan and send it to your home in your home country. Following this, you will experience Tosenkyo, a fan-throwing game that was popular during the Edo period. We will teach you the throwing techniques and tips from the beginning, and you will compete for points in a tournament format.
Though it’s a simple game, few traditional games are as exciting as this one. Please enjoy this Kyoto culture that has continued for over 100 years.
