This guided tour lets you experience the spirit and discipline of the samurai through Iaido, the traditional art of drawing the sword. Begin at Iaijinja Shrine, where you’ll change into a rental dogi (training uniform) and learn proper etiquette and sword rituals.
Under the guidance of an expert instructor, practice the “First Draw” (Shohattou) of the Muso Shinden-ryu style and observe a tameshigiri (test cutting) demonstration, gaining insight into the precision and focus of the art.
By the end, you’ll have experienced firsthand the discipline, concentration, and spiritual focus that define the samurai way.

**2 hours Iaido Samurai Experience begins! **
Learn the “First Draw” (Shohattou) of the Muso Shinden-ryu style and observe a sword demonstration.
You will study forms (kata) that have been passed down for over 450 years. Beginning with proper etiquette (sword rituals), you will practice the movements of the forms to learn how to use your body and mind effectively, while training your focus and developing mental discipline.
