Over 5 days, 5 nights (and countless baths) you’ll conquer the volcanic peaks of Oze and Bandai-Asahi National Parks, indulge in delicious local food and sake, and make lasting connections with the inspiring people of Fukushima.

MEETING PLACE

TOUR COURSE

NIGHT 1

Prepare for the journey ahead by spending the night at a local guesthouse in Hinoemata Village in the foothills of Oze National Park.

Enjoy interacting with the friendly locals and fuelling up on delicious local food (and sake!) for the journey ahead.

DAY 1

Embark on a trek through Oze National Park and spend the evening in a hiker’s hut on the mountain.

DAY 2

Continue your trek through the stunning Ozegahara marshlands.

Explore the Edo period village of Ouchi-juku before soothing your tired muscles in the healing hot spring baths of Ashinomaki Onsen.

DAY 3

Take a breather with a day of culture – sake, castles, hot-springs and local food!

Visit local sake brewery Himonoya-shuzo and learn how they’ve used local water for centuries to create their popular ‘Senkonari’ sake. Discover the deep connections between water and sake brewing.

Take a quick tour of the ruins of Nihonmatsu Castle before heading to Dake Onsen where you will spend the night enjoying the local nightlife and hot springs!

DAY 4

Spend the day trekking in Mt. Adatara. Trek from the peak of the mountain, across the rim of its crater and down to the source of Nakanosawa hot-springs below.

Don’t miss your chance to experience ‘Extreme Onsen’!! Jump into the milky-blue spring water and enjoy a natural jacuzzi!

DAY 5

On your final day, reflect on your journey whilst enjoying a bonsai workshop with a local shokunin (craftsman) whose works are inspired by the nature of Bandai-Asahi National Park.

In the afternoon, explore the rest of the city, perhaps stopping for a spot of fruit-picking, a ‘Kokeshi Doll’ craft workshop or picking up some souvenirs before heading to your next destination!

Tour ends at JR Fukushima Station.
