Highlights

The ‘Kesenn Carpentry History Museum’ is fascinating to visit in its own right, featuring three different buildings constructed using traditional Japanese building techniques.  On this tour, not only will you have the chance to take-in the history and unique architecture, but you will enjoy a cooking class of regional cuisine led by local residents themselves. Once finished cooking, gather around the traditional hearth fire to enjoy the fruits of your labor for lunch! 

Overnight stay at a traditional hot-spring inn (ryokan) included (with Japanese-style course meal for dinner and breakfast).

Meet at the ‘Kesenn Carpentry History Museum’ and take a guided tour of the buildings. There are three buildings in the complex, including a traditional ‘Kura’ storehouse and thatched-roof farmhouse. 

 

 

 

11:00

Enjoy a cooking class with local ‘Obaachan’ (grandmas)! Learn about the local food culture and different local ingredients used to make each dish. 

 

 

 

12:00

Taste the fruits of your labor! Sit around the traditional hearth fire or tatami-mat room and enjoy your lunch of local cuisine! 

 

13:00

Tour ends after lunch. 

15:00~

Check-in to your lodging at Ofunato Onsen at anytime after 15:00. 

You will stay in a traditional Japanese style room (2 people to 1 room) and have full access to the hot-spring baths with ocean views! Included in your stay is a full course Japanese style dinner of local cuisine and tasty breakfast the next morning.
