With an experienced local guide, this tour visits both the merchant district and the samurai district of Kakunodate: experience local craftsmanship (Kabazaiku cherry-bark carving), taste and compare soy sauce at the historic Ando Brewery, be guided inside a samurai residence, enjoy lunch, and finish with a visit to Suzuki Sake Brewery for a tasting with pairings.

Kabazaiku (cherry bark craft) workshop – scrape and make your own coaster by hand. Duration: 1 hour.


Ando Soy Sauce and Miso Brewery – tour of the historic storage warehouse and tasting of three types of soy sauce, with a personalized bottle to take home. Duration: 1 hour.


Visit Bukeyashiki (Samurai Street) – enter one of the nationally protected samurai residences. Duration: 1 hour.

Suzuki Sake Brewery – tour of the sake-making facilities and tasting with a pairing appetizer. Duration: 1.5 hours.
