Stroll through Kakunodate’s historic merchant and samurai districts on this 2.5-hour culinary walking tour. Starting at Co-Working Space ORENCHI, you’ll taste three types of Japanese sake unique to Akita at Fujita Sake, sample manju, dorayaki, and other local sweets at a shop over 100 years old, and compare soy sauce and miso at the Ando Soy Sauce and Miso Brewery. The walk concludes with a visit to one of Kakunodate’s nationally protected samurai residences on the historic Bukeyashiki street.

Japanese Sweet Shop – try manju, dorayaki and other local mochi sweets at a shop over 100 years old (20 min).

Ando Soy Sauce and Miso Brewery – taste and compare three types of soy sauce, plus other soy-related products and miso (30 min).

Visit Bukeyashiki (Samurai Street) – enter one of the nationally protected samurai residences (30 min).
