Rice Ball Making Experience

Shape Akita Komachi Rice Into Onigiri with a Local Family

Highlights

Shape and cook traditional Akita Komachi rice into onigiri rice balls with a warm local family in Kakunodate. On the drive from Kakunodate Station you’ll pass scenic rice paddies before arriving at your host’s home, where you’ll learn the technique of forming rice balls the way local families have for generations. Afterwards, enjoy the rice balls you made together in a relaxed, homely atmosphere – a simple but heartfelt taste of everyday life in Akita.
