Matsushima Bay is famous throughout Japan as one of the nation’s Top Scenic Views as well as haven for seafood lovers craving the huge fresh local oysters. A photogenic destination to say the least, on this tour you yourself can become part of the scenery in a traditional Japanese kimono. After choosing your favourite style of kimono from the many beautiful pieces at ‘Umerabu’ kimono rental, you will be transformed by a professional kimono dresser. A short wander along the bay and you will arrive at ‘Kanrantei’ tea-house, an ancient villa belonging to samurai Date Masamune, where you will enjoy some traditional matcha green tea and seasonal ‘wagashi’ Japanese sweets in the open sitting-room with panaromic ocean views. After capturing your experience in some photos by the bay, you will visit the iconic ‘Godaido’ Temple and peruse the local shops for some souvenirs. You’ll be feeling ready for a bite of some local cuisine, so you’ll drop-in to a local ‘Kamaboko’ fishcake specialty store to try some of their goods after grilling them yourself! Wind-up your Matsushima experience with a visit to the stunning Entsuin Temple, with a chance to explore the temple gardens and take advantage of some more photogenic spots before returning your Kimono and stepping back into your travel-shoes to continue your journey.
